Finally, after at least 5 years, we're having a fire in our fireplace.

Kinja'd!!!

Nothing to big (at least compared to my dad's usual fires) but it's so nice to have one after so long. And it smells so good.

Now we just need some snow to go with it!

Kinja'd!!!

I guess a Bentley wouldn't hurt either...

Oh trust me, we did. We actually had to replace something that had a crack in it.

The house that came with the garage we bought earlier this year does not have a fireplace like our last place did. I miss it dearly.

A fireplace would be on my "must have" list when I was buying a house, I just love having fires.

We've had a few woodpeckers and they always peck on the metal cap and it echoes down the chimney, so annoying.

The one in our living room hasn't been lit in 16 years (since we've owned the house) because it's a wood burner. It still works though.

Ours is a wood burner. My dad refuses to switch it to gas.

Took you five years?!? I cherish a fireplace so much, I woulda' had one burning before even unpacking.

We ended up putting some mesh over the top of the chimney to keep animals out after that

Our other two were switched to gas by the p.o.

Trust me, if I could've driven and bought the wood I would've, but this is my first year driving during the winter. We bugged my dad enough this year to finally go get wood. My parents have lived here 18 years, so 5 isn't so bad (yes it is)

It was always a fall ritual in my family when my dad had a cord of wood dropped off at the top of the driveway. Whole family would pitch in to cart the wood down to the end of the driveway where we would stack some in the garage, some under the porch, and some just outside the door on the porch in case we got snowed in. And then the first fire of the fall always happened on the first night the temp dropped below 40 degrees, always a greatly exciting evening.

We bought my wife's grandparents old house. So the required list kind of went out the window. Sad thing is it used to have a fireplace but has since been removed completely.

Spent about $3k for a good new wood burning fireplace about 3 years ago. Made in Canada. You know those Canucks know keeping warm. Very efficient. I have not turned on the furnace yet. Yeah, I know, I live in the southwest. But I live at close to 6000 feet and it gets cold this time of year at that elevation. $kay knows.

If only...

Actually, there's real wood pieces inside we could use if we run out of firewood.

Cloth seats burn pretty well too.
